Thread: Casino

  1. #1
Hey I just bought Casino on DVD (great movie) but alot of it was edited I have looked around and it seem to be the only version around. It is edited like when joe pecsi pop the guys eye out in the vice. and at the end when they beat him with the bat. I remeber these parts being quite rough, but it is obviously edited in these and quite a few other places. Does anyone know if there is a limeted editon, not edited version - or am i dreaming. I have This version

kind of a waste i would say.

That's the tricky thing about buying DVD's. You HAVE to really look closely at the fine print. Alot of movies don't come out in their original version the first time around. Thanks in part to this craze of releasing and rereleasing the new and improved and the special edition and the platinum edition and blah, blah, blah.

Ya i know, but i did not even think with a movie as old as this one, that it would just be the normal version. A real kick in the nuts.

and yeah Metro, I know what you are saying I am too proud to take anything back.

You guys must not be in America. I've never had a edited DVD. Special editions are just that. They have extra footage, commentary, etc than the theatrical release. For instance, I'd never buy T2 Extreme Ed. because I got all the extra footage already in the 1st DVD release. I don't care about more commentary (or paying another $15+)

Well America is the land of edited for T.V, and removal of "influential" shit. I am in Canada, everything comes from you guys. I mean shit you guys can't even swear on T.V. (network), not that we really have any networks. Anyways off point, point being that the fact that I am not in America has nothing to do with it, and assuming that metrostars uses the word "bucks" instead of quib, or franc or whatever I would assume that he is in the states as well, definitely north America. + new yorks finest soccer team.

Uhhhh....have you been here before or stayed here for any length of time?
Most folks here have cable where it's a swear fest. On network TV you can't say FUCK, SHIT, PUSSY, DICK or any incarnation thereof such as:
    motherFUCKer
    bullSHIT
    the SHITter
    PUSSYwhipped
    DICKwad
    DICKless
or even CUNT as it refers to PUSSY
You can say BITCH and ASS among others.
And I think Metrostars lived in New York but is overseas now; I could be wrong. Furthermore, 'I' was talking about DVD and for that matter no one was talking about TV (from the beginning of your thread I might add). The one thing that has edited versions is music. DVD's and VHS's are not 'censored' here and is not in fine print. So it probably does have something to do with where you are.
By the way if a VHS was edited this way it probably was bootlegged of 'TV' and put out on tape.

Look my point is that in Canada we have much more laxed laws about what can be shown. I gave network television as an examble, and beleive it or not we have cable tv in Canada too. But to prove my point another way, a movie that may be rated R in the states for violence, if just violence, the rating in Canada will probably be like 14A. Here is a website tat goes over the requiremnets for ratings. The other this is that belevice it or not, Canada is just a small lake away from you, and in some cases nothing separtes us. Just about all of our DVD's come from you guys, a couple are distributed through companies here, but they are manufactured in the states. So it has nothing to do with where I live.

Agreed. Cable is pretty bad here, most stations are censored in one way or another. However in the movies, that's a different story. There is a huge double standard in America. Everyone wants access to porno, and violence and cursing, but no one seems to want it in their backyard.
