Hi, if I buy a Mac I was wondering what programs would I use to do the following because right now I have a PC but I would like to get a Mac laptop for my birthday.

    1. The Best Nero for Mac? (to burn cds/dvds)
    2. The best WinRar for Mac? (to extract rar files)
    3. Remote Desktop for Mac? (to login to my seedbox)
    4. FlashFXP for Mac? (to transfer files from seedbox to mac)
    5. Watching TV Wirelessly? (watch tv without cables connected to mac)
    6. Best torrent client for Mac?

    Thanks for your help.
Leaving FST for awhile. Will be active on 1 or 2 private trackers and will still use a seedbox. Thanks to all the members who helped me along the way.

    I would recommend the following:
    1. TOAST
    2. Stuffit
    3. VNCviewer / Chicker of VNC
    4. Transmit
    5. Don't know
    6. Azureus (or you can install crossover to run some win apps like utorrent)

And I also recommend VLC media player.
This is just like that drug trip I saw in that movie while I was on that drug trip.

OK, thanks for the reply. I am using Hava Wireless HD Monsoon Multimedia to watch tv on my WinXP PC wirelessly and it works great. Here's a link to learn more.

Just wondering if there are any like this for Macs. I use VLC media player all the time.

    1. The Best Nero for Mac? (to burn cds/dvds)
Burn.app - free, as opposed to Toast.

    2. The best WinRar for Mac? (to extract rar files)
Unrarx - not a piece of shit like Stuffit.

    3. Remote Desktop for Mac? (to login to my seedbox)
CORD. Microsoft releases their RDP client for OS X, too. Unless you need VNC, then you can use Leopard's built-in VNC viewer.

    4. FlashFXP for Mac? (to transfer files from seedbox to mac)
Transmit or Cyberduck (Transmit is shareware, Cyberduck is free, both are good).

    5. Watching TV Wirelessly? (watch tv without cables connected to mac)
Good question... Perhaps something at elgato.com fits your need?

    6. Best torrent client for Mac?
Transmission is actually pretty good for OS X now, it's not the same piece of shit it used to be.

You do realize that the Apple TV has absolutely nothing to do with bringing TV to a Mac, right?

Check out Slingbox for watching Home TV anywhere. Works great.

I use transmission for torrents and I find it it works quite well - a lot more lightweight than azureus in my opinion.

For archives betterzip is great as you can view files in the archive without actually extracting them - as is the case with stuffit.
