If you don't mind using emule... lib.verycd.com/movie have the largest selection of SD (ie Soft Definition) x264 encodes.
Often times, that mean a resolution just a notch over DVD, around 832x. Rips are often split there in cd sized still. A normal movie goes from 2 to 4 cds.
Groups that make those rips : KiSS, TLF, ZY, etc. Mostly TLF for mainstream movies.
