    Im trying to save a codec pack to an external disc, the computer im using wont let me move it, it says i need admin access, how can i get past that? it saves to desktop but wont let me move it from there to the external disk.

    If u make a copy and paste that to the external disk ..does it let u do that?
    And also check the properties off the codec pack u whant to move ... se what it says is it read only ? are u logged in as an administrator ?

    no im not administrator- and its not read only, i just need some missing codec to watch a .avi

    some avi's work , but not others.

    log out, log in as administrator
    if you use xp/vista and have the welcome screen (don't see the login box where you enter a user name) press alt+ctrl+del twice at the welcome screen to show the login box, then type administrator.
    Once logged in you can browse to the desktop folder for your other user account, then copy and paste.
