    I'm looking for a program that opens and plays .swf files on my computer, not off the internet (in a web browser). I went through marcomedia.com, but all I found were installers asking for my IE plug-ins folder, I want one that will open .swf files that I have on my HD.

    Thanks in advance.

    IrfanView with all the plugins installed will open almost everything.

    And there's nothing wierd about it. IE won't open a local .swf unless you have a program installed to do that.

    Lol. Its because some of the shockwave files I have, when I open them with IE they don't open. But when I open them with Opera, they do open. I don't wanna open them with Opera all the time, and IE won't open some of them. I remember havn't a program like this, can't figure out what it was.

    .swf are flash files I would think if you have Macromedia flash plugins, which are almost usually asked to DL if you don't have them, it should work.

    If you dowload flash the program it comes with a player which plays .swf files on your pc.
    signature removed, check the boardrules.

    if you want to do it a long (well sort of long way try this)

    Open Notepad (or something that will make HTML)

    add this
    ===============================

    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1">
    <TITLE>Untitled-1</TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
    &#60;&#33;-- URL&#39;s used in the movie--&#62;
    &#60;&#33;-- text used in the movie--&#62;
    <OBJECT classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
    codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
    WIDTH="550" HEIGHT="400" id="Untitled-1" ALIGN="">
    <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="Untitled-1.swf"> <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high> <PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#FFFFFF> <EMBED src="Untitled-1.swf" quality=high bgcolor=#FFFFFF WIDTH="550" HEIGHT="400" NAME="Untitled-1" ALIGN=""
    TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></EMBED>
    </OBJECT>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    ====================================

    Change the VALUE, HEIGHT, WIDTH, ID, NAME, EMBED src to what your .swf is

    ====================================

    save as something.HTML

    and make sure that both the HTML and .SWF are in the same folder then preview in your browser.

    hope that helped

    I could make you a small program to play the files in if you wanted.

    What is so weird about it? You have to be online all the time in order to use Internet Explorer. What KrackHead2k wants is a program that will play the .swf files offline after downloading them.

    There are several programs that can do this. My favorite is Media Player Classic. Media Player Classic is bundled together with both QuickTime Alternative and Real Alternative available for download from the K-Lite site.
