    You know it's far easier for my brain to accept that music can be digitally encoded on a silver plastic disc, and be decoded by detecting reflections from a laser, than it is to say it can be encoded into a wobbly bobbly groove in a black plastic disc, and be decoded by vibrating a diamond needle..

    I mean that's just mental

    Now you mention it...

    How exactly does a HD work, where do they store the info, and in what format is it stored. Do they still use binary for that?

    I've just realised I've been using this technology all my life and don't really understand the basic workings of it!
