Thread: Problem With Nero

1. #1
I have been trying without success to burn my T3 avi file onto CD-R. The file is somewhere around 760 MB and I've been trying to burn onto 800 MB/ 90 min CD-R's. I have Nero version 5.5.10.35, Enterprise Edition and have enabled overburn. When I try to burn the CD as an ISO, I get a message saying that there is not enough room on the medium. Media info reads it as only a 700 MB CD. I have burned SVCD's of similar file size onto these discs without a problem, but Nero will not let me burn the avi file.

Any suggestions (please)?

you sure you've burned files over 700MB onto 800mb disks? sounds to me like your cdrw does not support overburn

Yup. I just burned my 2 disc SVCD of Bruce Almighty without a problem. (One CD was about 740MB, the other about 790.)

Some times in nero when you try to convert an avi to svcd it opens out a lot bigger than the avi you`ve downloaded. It should tell you how much disc space you need before you burn it.

lindca, a t3 avi file at 760 megs, is not the same size when burned as a svcd of say a 760 meg bruce almighty.

much of the data on a bin/cue svcd file, doesnt get written to the cd. Alot of it is directions for the movie, how to play, how to burn, etc, and file structure. When you burn say 800 meg bin file, the reason it fits onto a 700 meg cdr, is because the actuall movie just barely fits on there... while the directions, and what not, are not burned to the cd.

As long as you actualy have enough room on the cd..besides enabling overburn set the burn options to ' finalize cd and disc-at- once'and it should burn a 760mb avi fine.

Also dont take much notice what nero reads the cd as ..on 90/99 mins discs it always seems to read as 100mb less. But just take off about 30-40 mb and that should b the actual size..like with 900mb u can only burn 870mb raw data.

I chatted to a guy in local pc shop, two possible problems:- your cdrw don't recognise the size of the disk( older ones don't), or Nero itself, when you try burning with Nero burn the file as a data file not a video file, it works for me. Only prob then is it cant be played in a dvd only on a pc.
