First one was released 1930 (Tintin au Pays des Soviets)

Tintin au Congo (1931)
Tintin en Amerique (1934)
Les cigares du Pharaon (1934)
Le Lotus Bleu (1936)

And it goes up to 1986 (Tintin et l'Alph-art)

Yes, but the last book (Tintin et l'Alph-art) was never finished.

Hergé died 1983

Tintin is one of my favourite books to read, they're fun and thrilling. My favourite has to be Snowy though ....

There was a TV series as well, wasn't there?

Yes, thats right. The Adventures of Tintin ran as an animated series too.
It was very faithful re-creation of all the books that the adventures originally appeared in.

edit: typo
