Thread: SSL secured usenet-- how secure are they?

  1. #1
If I am downloading using a secured (ssl) usenet service, how secure is the data I am grabbing?

Is it possible for my ISP (comcast) to determine what I am grabbing?

Does the security depend on how strong my password is for my usenet account?

    thanks

I have comcast and don't use SSL. No one really cares that people download illegal stuff off of usenet, I think they're going after P2P more.

AFAIK, no ISP bothers to throttle usenet traffic. Usenet is a minority compared to the amount of people using BT/P2P programs. Usenet is also alot safer since many usenet providers don't record what you download, only the amount.

well SSL just sounds safer to me and its the Piece Of Mind that im after

but also I cant make the point that your ISP being able to openly see what you are doing is a good idea

If they cared, they wouldn't provide you with high speed internet.
