Replacing vncserver with tightvncserver is real easy. Wherever you see "vncserver" in the guide, replace it with "tightvncserver".
So you will need to

apt-get install tightvncserver
set up the desktop the same as in the guide.
And to start it One your desktop it doesn't matter whether you use realvncviewer or tightvncviewer.
