Thread: Customizing Win Xp

1. #11
may i add?
IMHO,
StyleXP has lotsa good skins. but,
If u use XP, u can use the uxtheme patch that allows u to use themes downloaded. Although doing so means u violate the user agreement. Use at own risk!
WindowBlind's unregistered version pops up a window pestering u to buy it.
And some of the skins are not as good as StyleXP's.
If u like a total facelift, try Litestep, a shell replaement for Windows. It may be a little hard to use for beginners.

That's the CopperDeck theme that comes as one of the default skins for WB, right?

I mean no offense (and especially not trying to start a flame war), but IMO that and the themes that are the same as CopperDeck (with different colours) just seem ugly to me I think it's just trying to be too techno IMO

But that's just my opinion - In the end, the choice is down to your own opinion anyway

hey everyone, thanks for all the replies, i decided on style XP and i went to theme XP to look for some themes but they dont seem to be as good as the skins on wincustomize.

what sites do you guys get your skins from?

Well I already gave four skinning sites to check out (ThemeXP, WinCustomise, Skinbase, Deskmod) - But if you look closely each of the sites usually has a box of links to check out, which link to each other.

It's like one giant network of skinners If you don't like what's on one site, look in the links and see if you can find one you haven't seen already.

That's as much the best advice I can give currently

I agree. Why bother with another prog running on your comp when you don't need it. Install the uxtheme patch, that way you select your themes through desktop properties instead of some kiddies UI.

The patch is the only way to go. you can get it here This way you dont have to install another program...
