Oddly enough, the total number of users on the network has gone down since June too.

    Coincidence? I think not.

things are quiet until hitler decides he'd like to invade russia
    so, he does
the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

While I'm on 56k atm, the last week of July I dl'ed 3 movies, took about 4 days which is pretty good. I've had faster, I've also had much worse. Two of them were 'classics' tho, and the third hasn't gotten much (any?) press in the US, so none of them were really high-demand.

Er...and you must be on 56k if you can't run Kazaa and read a website at the same time.

That is crap, I have been monitoring the amount of users on the Fasttrack network. It hasn't changed considerable in the past 6 months. I've seen averages around 3.5 million+ all year long.

I believe that a lot of users are just not sharing and/or limiting the files they are sharing.

I also believe that a lot of you have gotten spoiled with pre-released movies and their over abundance this year. It seems everyone expects to find movies before or the weekend they are released. Well, the truth is these are anomalies.

Everyone should have some fucking patience and wait for these files to propagate the network.

It's either that or learn to use IRC, bittorrent, or newsgroups to get them.

Funny, because my averages are around 2 million. It's down 1.5 million for me. So, yes, it has changed considerably. Remember that different areas of the world link up to different supernodes. Even if I'm jumping supernodes, I get only one other alternative.

I usually find between 3 and 4 million people online, depending on time of day/night. Haven't noticed any change myself.

Kazaa is pretty useless for movies, in fact it's pretty useless for everything except music and porn. And I find that all the porn on Kazaa is tasteless and i would rather get an album rather than an individual song. Basically, I don't see why anyone would want to use anything other than DC++. I once tried sharing a copy of the movie Jacob's Ladder on Kazaa, and it was ridiculous, nobody was sharing the movie and so many people tried to upload from me that my internet connection stopped working. Decreasing the upload slots didn't help because it doesn't allow one person to fully download the file before switching to another person. Basically, you have no hope of introducing a new file into Kazaa unless you have a T3, and most people just introduce pop crap. For example, you can find the POS Halloween Resurrection on Kazaa, but not Carpenter's original masterpiece. Hell, you can't find any Carpenter movie with the exception of Ghosts of Mars, which is shit. If Kazaa could figure out a way to make it so that download speeds are semi-decent when you're not downloading from 20 people, then this wouldn't be such a problem.
