I'm not really into trance, and what's holding me back from downloading more cds is that most seem to be mixes with 24 different artists per cd. that wreaks havoc on my ipod, because im used to cds where theres 1 or 2 artists per cd. How do you guys keep your ipod organized, or do you just never browse by artist and only by album?

Also, if there are good examples of the genre without so many different artists on each cd, please recommend me the cd/mix and I'll try and get ahold of it.

    thnx

You can use Rockbox with your iPod with that option you can open .cue files provided big Trance mixes. This would be another option.

i would never install rockbox on the new ipod classics! and anyways i dont think a rockbox exists for the new ipods. so i guess trance really isnt that practical to carry around if you dont solely listen to trance. whatever, it's more DJ music anyways and a small niche. if i really got into trance i'd probably buy an ipod shuffle or nano and synch random trance songs onto it, using a separate media player.

There's no rockbox for the classic.

What I do is tag the entire album with the album's DJ name and then leave the original artist for each track in the comments in iTunes.
This is just like that drug trip I saw in that movie while I was on that drug trip.

I just throw the trance that I have on my PC onto my iPod, and just shuffle it all. I don't really worrying about browsing too much

I set the artist name to be VA, and browse by album's name. Each and every track of the album is of course shown by its full name artist.

If you make the mix a compilation in iTunes, and enable compilations in your iPod settings does it still split up all the artists?

I had the same problem. I edited the ID tags and set TITLE to artist - title and ARTIST to album.
