Thread: 100% Cpu

  1. #11
hmm, sorry, i assumed this was a K-Lite question since it's on the K-Lite forum... but the original post doesn't say that any specific program is causing the high CPU usage.

dunno what to tell you, then. there are prolly a lot of things that could be causing this. you might wanna go through your services and disable some of the stuff that you don't need. or it may just be a bug in the Task Manager, if your PC isn't acting any slower than normal...

Go to symantic.com and get the online virus scan just in case.

It could be two programs that are both running at the same time not responding very well together. I use to find when I ran kazaa and pc-cillin i couldnt do anything else with the pc, cpu usage was at 100% all the way through the download. Try to see if there is anything like that causing you the problem.

Also, check to make sure you didn't leave K-lite running its "automatically search for more sources" action. It has a tendency to take all bandwidth availiable after a few minutes of searching.

About your ram problem it could be that your moboard doesnt accept ne thing higher than 512. Im not sure about the cpu but i remember having that same problem it was actually something in the bios Is it running slugish or normal ?? It might be reporting 100% usage but it really isnt.

How many downloads do yo have either paused/queued/more sources/remotely queued???

any more than 50 and my pc decides to use 100% cpu.

Try moving some of the .dat files to another folder inside ur shared folder. this should help.

I'm using XP Pro and on my first installation of it, it had this problem,
it would stay using 100% of the cpu all the time,
so I just started ending processes in taskmanager,
and I discovered that Explorer was the problem,
when explorer wasn't running, it was fine,
but as soon as explorer started 100% was used again.
I had to reinstall windows to solve the problem.

You might have a similar problem, I know it sucked for me.
