does anyone know what format i could convert movies i get online (divx, avi, mov, etc.) to whatever file type i would need to use to play them on a playstation2? if this has been addressed before im sorry. also, could someone please tell me how long this conversion would take?

PS2 doesn't support VCD.
Don't quote me on this, but the EvolutionX dashboard for XBOX has a Media Player addon. I think you may be able to play mpegs with that.

not sure if this helps
the latest revision PS2 has support for dvd/r dvdr/w not sure which format exactly.
you could then burn it using a dvd authoring utility
latest revision also has a new quiter fan etc..............
as well as that if you buy the Sony Official DVD remote control it has a firmware update Disc for the dvd player

you could always get a standalone dvd player from umax or lg
they both do models that play Divx/Xvid and all vcd,svcd etc.... all for around £100

you need a mod chip, than it will play almost anything, vcds, svcds, burned games, etc...Except .avi's
