    PS2 doesn't support VCD.

Don't quote me on this, but the EvolutionX dashboard for XBOX has a Media Player addon. I think you may be able to play mpegs with that.

    not sure if this helps

the latest revision PS2 has support for dvd/r dvdr/w not sure which format exactly.

you could then burn it using a dvd authoring utility

latest revision also has a new quiter fan etc..............

as well as that if you buy the Sony Official DVD remote control it has a firmware update Disc for the dvd player

also check out the new PSX

you could always get a standalone dvd player from umax or lg

they both do models that play Divx/Xvid and all vcd, svcd etc.... all for around £100

you need a mod chip, than it will play almost anything, vcds, svcds, burned games, etc...Except .avi's
