There’s a group of about 6 of us who are going to be driving up from Los Angeles and heading to San Francisco from a birthday trip. The birthday guy is turning 21 so we are planning to check out the bar scene in the San Francisco area, but really don’t know where and what is worth our while in SF. Ive been to the Bigfoot Lodge in the LA area and heard there is one in SF. What other bars/lounges in the SF area with a cool vibe are worth checking out?

On a serious note: try The Monk's Kettle. It has a nice vibe and a sweet selection of brews. If you like punk try the 540 club - it's awesome.
However, if you're looking for a totally different kind of club...you'll love this place:
