(i post here since i dl movies only and cos i'm mainly curious on repercussions in that area)

Everone can see the shrinkin' of the kazaa-community.
4months ago when i started in the morning there were about 4 million users online, during the day going up to 5 million.

Now it is 2.6 in the morning up to 3.5 , 36 in the afternoon/evening.

Following the news on tv or the paper i should believe it's the riaa, mpia(?), stichting brein(dutch) and their threats in pressreleases that make people leave.

Can anyone tell me if there even has been one conviction??

How solid a case do they have with just an ip and a list of supposedly "shared" songs/movies?

What kind of users are actually leaving? (leeches, sharing-diehards, etc)
And what kind of files will be harder to get??

Could it actually be good for downloading, cos less "bottlenecks"??

And finally; where are they going??
(i know all the alternatives like bittorrent(not totally "save" btw), but is the community really shrinking or just relocating/spreading)

Would appreciate fullsentenced replys!!

PS Don't know if this tip ever came up, so i try it as a ps first:

When i have a big list of movies queued, i type "movie" in the searchwindow, at least 640 mb and autosearch more.
After a while i get the best sources for a lot of titles popping up...........

I can't speak for everyone here, but I rarely use Kazaa anymore. There are bigger and better P2P options available, and so I use those instead.

things are quiet until hitler decides he'd like to invade russia
so, he does
the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

i stopped using k-lite because the ft network (on which k-lite runs) is flooded with fake files and virii

Well, I won't be quitting Kazaa anytime soon... it's still the best for me.

Shareaza is #2, and everything else is way behind.

Seriously, on FastTrack you can dl mainstream files quickly (music, small progs, etc.), and Shareaza allows you to dl new releases from eDonkey AND BitTorrent.

I think people are mostly quitting kazaa because of the RIAA, because i know a lot of people who haven't even heard of edonkey, and other such networks. It's sad really... the RIAA's scare tactics are actually working.

I don't think kazaa is dying yet, u have 2 remember that there was a black out in America and in canada... plus it's the summer, u have 2 take all of that into consideration.. I also back up wot Ynhockey says, Kazaa is the best for getting movies just about every movie is out there....

Hit it right on the money

There are less people on kazza these days because there are much better programs out there to get what you want. Its not the fact that its illegal to share music , films. Maybe a small percentage have left becasue of that but the majority left becasue they want better download speeds, quick release of material and verification of files.

Kazza just doesnt do that anymore. Its old news basically.
