A lot of shows/movies I download in 1080 end up being multiple files. Instead of being a single file, there may be 50, each lasting about 5 minutes or so in length. It's as if the movie has been sliced into numerous files.

Is there a particular way to view these? What the heck do other people do with them?

That doesn't seem right to me since I think most 1080 movies get released as a .mkv file which is a container that holds all the movie.

What file extension do they have?

An could they be some kind of file format like 7z or rar that is used to split large releases and you just need to extract it.
