When you peel potatos, chop them up into small (1"by1") pieces then cover them in oil and spices and bake them in the oven (or fry in a pan on top of the stove) what are they called?
My family always called them fried potatos but techincally if you're making them in the oven they aren't fried.

I have them down in my recipe book as 'fried spiced potatoes' . I usually do them in a yoghurt sauce though.

They're not baked because you're using oil. You're roasting them.
They're called roasted potatoes.
Roasties like.

Persona non grata
The commercial fries that you buy at the supermarket are baked in the oven but they're still called french fries.
What does it matter what they're called anyway?
