Hole is noise. Nothing more. Courtney was riding her dead hubbies coattails.
Nirvana was pure trend setting genius.
I've already started seeing on more recent "best of" albums lists compiled by renowned music critics where Nevermind is among the top 10 albums of all time along with albums by the Stones and the Beatles and I'm not surprised. That album is synonymous with an entire genre that it helped to create and with Kurt Cobain's demise, the demise of grunge was quick to follow.
Kurt had a great songwriting gift and he was able to put all the angst and frustrations he felt so eloquently down on track after track. You could feel Kurt in those songs...

yo
That's a really tough one. In terms of attitude and approach I probably prefer Hole. But Nirvana wrote some pretty good music. Hole's lyrics aren't a bunch of pretentious arse though.
I think Cobain makes me nervous because he's one of those sensitive types. It's ok to be sensitive, as long as it makes you fight or really good in bed. If it makes you kill yourself or spend all your time thinking about yourself it's not so good.
Isn't/wasn't Cobain a smack racer?
Who then overdosed? Or committed suicide in some other gruesome fashion?
BTW I agree (if it is him) with ya Squeam. Self-centered coonts are a waste of space, trend-setting musicians or otherwise.

I thought Cobain was a drugs overdose. Wasn't River Phoenix a gun to the head? they were all part of the Darwin Awards generation anyway.
Now go away.
