    Hi all Need to reformat due to various problems. Do I need to re-register name and password?

    huh? did you mean the OS? Yes, but they also want you to call in and tell them that you're re-installing the OS, so they don't think you're lending your serial to somebody else. It's just basic MICROSOFT...

    What kind of crack are you smoking? You never have to call them if you want to fomat your harddrive, you bought the shit its yours now why would you have to check back with them?

    They probably mean that with Win XP you have to register/activate your copy of XP.

    No just make a note of those you need the most.
    Next time devide you HD in 2 partitions.., and store important files there.
