    But then you'd have to kill innocent civilians. Children and the like. Unarmed, helpless, good-natured and hard-working people.

    Landless doesn't mean you don't have a shack to live in. It just discerns you from the labourers who do have land (aka a peasant with land of his own).

    The landless labourer would have to find work in another wealthy peasant's land, or any other means to subsist his family (poaching and selling rabbit skins, or thieving, and so on).

    It always makes me a bit sad when people don't get irony.
