    hello;

    so here is the thing;

    i have an OVH box.
    im located on the west coast of the USA.
    my ftp download speeds from my OVH box are only 300Kb/s.
    my home internet connection can download at 2 megabytes per second.

    obviously im not using it to my full potential... so i had the idea of using a middleman; someone geographically located between France (OVH) and me, Nevada USA.

    what i want to do is use WinSCP to automatically sync files to the "middleman".. and then I connect to the middleman through ftp(s) and download from them at something close to 2 megabytes per sec.

    whats a good solutuion to this ?
    ive considered a **web host**, ala: dreamhost, and hostsimplex.

    ive also considered exavault, siteground, and rsync.net as **dedicated ftp hosts**.

    anyone have a good suggestion to speedup my downloads from OVH ??

    thanks,

    ericab.

    Have you tried opening more than 1 ftp thread.
    try 3 or 4 threads at once.smtimes gives u a lot more speed.

    i too get single link speeds like 150 -200KB/s but I use cute ftp pro and get get 8 parts+ simultaneously. that makes the speeds much high and can saturate my home connection.

    eric,

    u can use file zilla also with 8-9 connections and then try the limit .. Cuteftp has its own tutorials on multiple threads... Should not be too difficult

    I am located in the US, I have a box from hosting-IE.

    Its the same thing I need to use multiple connections to saturate the speed.

    In cute FTP pro you should have multipart downloads.

    also many scene releases are multiple files like 15 mb rars, than I just download all of them at the same time. i.e. like 50 files at once. that opens up 50 connections and completely saturates my download speed.

    My friend also saturates his speed (his is 2MB/s) this way

    Seedbox middleman? Anyways, download a program called 3d-ftp if cute ftp doesn't do it for you. It has way more threads to use than cuteftp and most other ftp programs. With it i maxed my connection when i dl'd off of my server.
    See ya in another life, brother.

    Alright, first step, go get your hands on CuteFTP Pro 8.2 from somewhere then follow the below steps, usually maxes my connection out at 2.3MB p/sec no problems from my seedbox.

    The below will assume that you have already connected to your FTP site and navigated to the appropriate folder where your file in question is located.

    In CuteFTP right click the file you want to download.

    Select the option "Download Advanced"

    Select "Multipart download"

    Select how many threads you want to use.
    ---------

    Should be in business now and downloading at pretty much full speed

    Sitback, relax and enjoy all your stuff at full speed
