In an attempt to meet with laws, rapidshare files are rapidly removed. RS is also not searchable. You are reliant upon 3rd party links found in forums or other sources.

Usenet is a network, with many providers similar in nature to the Internet. Even "IF" one provider is shut down it is not the death of the network. If something is posted, no matter the provider, everyone connected to Usenet can get it. Although NZB sites are popular, Usenet has existed for decades without indexing sites. It is completely possible to find content without 3rd party support.

At best,
a few hundred gigs (to the best of my knowledge actual statistics are not made public) a day gets uploaded to RS. Because the nature of RS makes it unfriendly to large uploads things like DVD rips are harder to come by.

At least,
3TBs a day gets uploaded to Usenet. Content is limitless.

If you do not have a premium RS account, the drawbacks are too numerous to count. If you are paying for a RS account a Usenet account is only a little more and well worth it.

RS is like a very bad web based knock off of what Usenet has nearly perfected.
Well said, can't really add anything to that. Other agreeing obviously.
