What's the best program to capture a single frame from a video file?

you just have to turn off hardware accelaration to use it.

so could someone perhaps tell me a good program to use to be able to extract a single frame from a movie and save it on my hard drive, it would be much appreciated

windows has a movie maker for free did you try that, i don't know how good it is but worth a try i think

i refuse to believe that nobody knows of a program capable of doing this, please help

play the movie in bsplayer and press "p"
then look in the bsplayer directory
voila
