Is there a quick and easy program to convert bmp,jpg or any other graphic files to avi to put in front of home movies.

I haven't come across any video editing software unable to do that, even windows movie maker that comes with windows.
Not tried it myself but http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareFoto2Avi.php

The problem is that even if you convert images to an .avi if you want to join
it to another file most programs will only do it if the video specs are the exact same
or you will have to recode the entire video with the new .avi in front of it
