What is the best software for downloading from newsgroups and checking the pars?

I like Unison and MacPAR.

Alt.Binz and Newsleecher are Usenet clients that support downloading of nzb and par checking and also rar extracting.

They are windows apps so you will need something like this.

Get hold of sabnzbd (it's available for Win, OSX and Linux). Spend a little time configuring it and you will not look back. Then get the firefox add-on nzbstatus, when this is all set up any computer on your network can send nzb's directly to your download computer. Also you can access it remotely (I can use my iPhone), it ties into RSS feeds for automatic downloading (all my television needs are waiting for me when I get up in the morning - amazing). I only switched to this about three weeks ago but I can't praise it highly enough. It also unpacks, repairs and deletes what you don't need. (also it only grabs any pars that you require).
Before this I had been using Unison and Macpar (both fine programs) but this just blows them away.

NZB drop is really good for NZB...and of course MacPAR.

But now i'm using HellaNZB and PADS.

It seems that sabnzbd do the same job hellonzb and PADS are doing.

PADS is using NewzBin and myepisodes.com for automatic download.

I still dont have access to Newzbin (need an account !) so i still not have tested automatic download yet, but it was really easy to install (you need macport).

I will check Sabnzbd to see if it can do the same without a Newzbin account

Sabnzbd need a newzbin account, Skel28, do you know another piece of software that could do the same things without a Newzbin account ?

Hi, sorry for delay, it doesn't need a newzbin account, you can use any source of nzb's, but it does work better with newzbin.
You can set rss feeds from many of the nzb sites to auto download with sab. Have a look here http://sabnzbd.wikidot.com/configure-rss
