I'm running bulletproof ftp server on my desktop in my dorm which I leave on all the time so that I can get to my files. I know FTP isn't all that secure so I was wondering what the best way to secure it would be? SSL?

i would go for glftpd or ioftpd, use explicit TLS (SSL)
