When it comes to x264 or h264 I find that the free opensource "alltoavi" is the best converter. Yeah! it has a few foibles like not converting files with symbols in the titles or the path, or not liking the video in a folder in a folder in a folder. But once you get past that, its pretty easy to do and at the most you might have to convert twice to get it out of the worst form of H264. Once to get it out and the next to avi. And of course once you have a good avi a dvd is not far behind.

On the other hand, converting can be such a hassle, as long as you can find a good ntsc or pal dvd-r version (depending on your area) your better off using the time for downloading any way. You end up with something much better in quality and extras. Once on dvd and playing OK you can delete the file off the hard drive so taking up too much room is not an excuse.
