I was wondering about something. I know that the RIAA can type in a song, see what comes up, and scan one of those users shared files. (At least that's how I think they do it) They can see what we share and get us for distributing copyrighted material, but is there any way for them to see us download stuff? They are only going after people that share right now, but how in the world, if they did, would they see us downloading and what we download? Wouldn't they have to use a hacking device, which of course would be illegal? Hope I made sense.

I'm glad it's not an issue right now, but is it possible?

    Sure...
Just stick something in a shared folder and wait for you to dl...
Although it could be labled as entrapment I suppose...

I'm sorry I mean something like, for example, if you were looking over someone's shoulder while they were downloading a song. I was talking about if they could watch what you do own your own computer. Spy on you like.

    Not legally...
    No.

    Although They Could...

As soon as you were to start dl from them, they would/could get you IP then.

Well if they had any mp3s it would be like the pot calling the kettle black. They would be doing the same thing they are accusing us of.

I didn't think it was possible to see what someone was downloading or doing on their computer, except if someone was a super genius hacker.

Actually in theory they have the copyright so they could...
