I tested out Usenet, and have to say, Didn't like it at all. Im gone back to private trackers again, almost straight away.
genearlly the sites you named in your first post are a fair step away (U*** especially, probably will never happen although you never know) but if your looking for some relatively easy sites for stuff
General needs: Bitsoup (not my favourite, but good to start off on, they oppen signups whenever there is space as far as I know)
demonoid-almost everyones first place. theres millions of invites floating around for this, easy to come by and well worth it.
TL: fantastic site with HUGE userbase, so really easy to seed backw aht you download, but a step up to get into fromd emonoid.
REVTT: similar enough to TL without the massive userbase, again slightly more difficult to get an invite than demonoid etc.
    MUSIC:
all depends on waht kind of music you want. STMUSIC is a great all round way to go, or maybe libble for indie, or TranceRoute/elektronik for trance or anything like it. But the the two big ones are what.cd and waffles.fm (and e****) but as far as I know, they all specialise in FLAC music (its a FreeLosslessAudioCodec)-Correct me if im wrong) and what only allow that and so do e**** so if you dont whnt that then not your place to go.
    Films:
Goem is a great site, with alot of freeleech stuff on the site, they change the freeleech area every week.
There are a few others but your not going to get them without some proofs so Ill leave them out.

Theres so many different types out there, that just by searching through these forums you can find them. Just remember the golden rule is to keep seeding back what you take to at least a 1:1 ratio.
    Then theres the topsites/ "Topsites"
Theyre what everyone wants, and where everyone wants to be-(I know these arent all top level but still, IM jsut trying to give him a general idea)
FTN, FTWR, PTN, E****, UK*, SCC, ScT and theres many more that dont allow being named. Just remember, be nice and dont trade

Thanks No Bother for the extra advice.

I am getting more comfortable with usenet and have lined up some old classics i found. and even burned a couple disks. My biggest prob is figuring how to search...and what groups to search. getting better and a little more comfortable, but i haven't yet found the selection that you have at the trackers, but as I said, I have just started with usenet and just scratched the surface I think..the speed is mindboggling....figure to use a combo of usenet and trackers maybe...the best of both worlds.....thanks..t

any advice on a better way to search for movies or whatever on usenet? the old classics are all i have been able to find..not into the porn stuff..but would appreciate suggestions on how to better my search techniques, in searching for specific things, instead of dvd in the title of all groups...thanks..t

Still trying Usenet for what it's worth..pleased when it works, but frustrating ....can't run utorrent and usenet together, as utorrent changes my ip a lot so i get the max simutaneous connections from same server error in grabit. When I turned utorrent off, all ran fine....but today no utorrent ran at all and still getting that error. Have tried with bridged modem to linksys and non bridged(bridged, i am totally connectable in untorrent..no modem firewall)..t

Need help! So I'm new to usenet (coming from BT & rapidshare). I have signed up with astraweb and using Alt.Binz 0.28.2 So far I did some research and understood only the basic for using newsgroup but I can't seem to search for what I'm looking for (specific movies, HD). Maybe I need tutorial for alt.Binz reader or if someone can help me with how to do movies search. Thx and be gentle bcus I'm new to this.
