    no sting has alot of talent actully nice voice too

    the police broke up becasue apperently sting had a punch up with the drummer and broke his ribbs

    you could put it the other way round and say "would the Police have made it initially if it wasn't for Sting" I'm not sure if he was, but if he was the songwriter, then most of the success is due to him.

    It's pretty rare in a band where the singer is also the songwriter that the other band members have any major influence of whats going on. i'd say about 70% of the time that singer/songwriter could go solo, or recruit new band members, and sound pretty much the same.

    obviously there are some bands where every member has a lot of input and authority.
