I know there is already a seedplace thread, but I need to ask about a specific plan. I am thinking of getting the following plan

    Shared Start 1

    Shared Between - 2 users

    Processor - Intel Celeron D/215/220 1.2GHz+
    Memory RAM - 1GB
Hard disk - 250 GB (125 each user)
    Connection - 100Mbps
Traffic - Unlimited(not always guaranteed SLA standard network)
    IP - 1

    Pre-Installed :
    NX client
    sFTP
    Wine
    http://www.seedplace.org.uk/cart.php?gid=10

Has anyone else tried this plan? How are the speeds? I will be using the seedbox mainly for seeding on easy-to-seed trackers like TL, RevTT, IPT, etc. because I have a crappy home connection.

If you have some info, please do share.

You could (emphasize "could") run into trouble because you're basically using 1GB which does not include a reservation for the OS and just a Celeron. In simple terms; re-checking files and caching might post a huge load/bottleneck. And, of course, you're sharing your IP with someone else which could lead to banning of accounts on certain trackers in the event both users on this seedbox are member there.

I have used shared boxes many times before and none of my accounts have been banned. Multiple accounts from one IP are not banned because of seeding from the same IP. They are banned if you browse multiple accounts from the same IP.

Yeah that also happens with a pentium 4 having 3 users checking simultaneously.
What i want to say is that day has 24 hours. You have to be that unlucky to login the same time as the other person to see that it is actually lagging. And hashing will not take that much time to cut your speed in torrents. Also you are in a shared dedicated box. You probably are aware of that problems. You can ask my clients if you want. Indeed one client wanted 1 gbps server and i sent him to another host which has real 1000/1000 and not 100/100 and 1000/1000 only local like ovh has. I prefer to get less trouble than more customers. Not only cause satisfied customers will bring you more but because some may ruin your day by crying all the time for something they knew when they signed up. I'm not hiding informations. Of course it will lag your system but this won't happen every time.

And that doesn't concerns only me but all resellers.

And about the ip thing, well, the same thing will happen if you are into a shared seedbox account.

Finally after thinking a lot, I went ahead and ordered one. Seems like a great discount for the price. Will keep you people updated on my experience with it.

For those who have this plan and for those who are getting, do you get root access and what are your speeds?

    Thanks

I received my box few hours ago. The speeds have been great till now, consistently above 5 MB/s, bursting upto 7.5 MB/s. But I have also had my share of problems. For e.g. whenever I download a couple of new torrents, the speed goes down. I understand that while downloading, the disk can be overloaded but even after downloading completes and it starts seeding, the speed doesn't come back. My speeds struggled at 500 - 700 KB/s for an hour and a half. After that I restarted the server and restarted utorrent and whoa, the speed was back to 6 MB/s. Any ideas what could be causing this? It happens every time I download new torrents. I have to restart to get back my speeds.

It must be because your on a shared box. The other user must have allocated your speed after the downloads were complete causing you to loose speed on your end. Sounds like an unbalanced load on that box. I'd let support know about it.

Seems like the issue has been resolved for now. The speeds are quite consistent now. Already transferred 280 GB in 20 hours. I love the box.

    some screens of my speeds.
