Last year a Danish court ordered the ISP Tele2/Telenor to block access to the Pirate Bay website. The ISP then forwarded a request for appeal and at present the Supreme Court in the country is analyzing the court’s decision.

Telenor’s regulatory chief Nicholai Kramer Pfeiffer expressed his enthusiasm with the new investigation: "We are pleased that we now have the opportunity to find out whether it is Internet Service Providers responsibility to ensure the closure of a website," he said. "We have always been highly skeptical when we receive subpoenas in this type of case."

Pfeiffer hopes this will solve the issue of the ISPs’ responsibility regarding blocking sites: "We seek a clarification of whether we have a responsibility to help the stuff flowing through our networks, as we have no commercial interest in the individual sites," added Pfeiffer, who pointed out that the problem of internet piracy should be dealt in a different way and not by trying to force ISPs into certain actions.
