    i r building a media center.

where i live now i can't get even a reasonable telly box signal in my bedroom and have to sit in the living room to watch any soft core pron and the land lady won't let me get sky and we can't pick up channel 5 or feeview, something to do with france being so near so i have to watch fucking everything on a little netbook. it does not rawk.

got an old nvidia 8600gt from a previous build for the graphics and an arsh load of hard drives, i also have x2 sticks of 1gb ddr2 i completely forgot about just sat in a drawer just need a mobo and processor which im cunningly gonna get on the cheap from work, instead of fixing stuff i'll just BER it and buy the parts back for less from salvage ...an amd black phenom a moth sneezed on? im sry sir but its fucked, i'll brake the news to your insurance company .... ...think i'll go for an athlon 64 though, am2 - can pick-up both the mobo and the processor for under a hundred squid then

    bought this case yesterday

its made by hiper, its slim as fuck, just like a proper duvda box, its got a riser card to fit pci/agp and has a 200w psu, which yeah is low but its only for movie films and porn, not gheymes or nuthing. what's weird though is that the psu isn't housed, its just sort of wrapped in plastics, ewe can see and touch all the insides, filthy. its only got something like around 40mm room for a hs/f though so its got to be low profile...

just looking for a suitable os for it once its complete, will see what linux has to offer first, obviousment

OK, usual lounge blather aside the NVidia 8600 is a very good HTPC card and is ideal for this. It has NVidia PureVideoHD and Bluray playback built in. Now the reason for this speech is you do not need a particularly powerful processor to run even at 1080p so even a low end AM2 dual core will be ideal. The one thing that concerns me is the 200w PSU this is quite small.
Your case rawks though so this should be an awesome setup.
I have configured the two most common Linux mediacenters LinuxMCE and the Elyssa media center for Gnome and have to say that Windows based solutions are simpler. This may sound like sacrilege but there is a far wider range of hardware that is supported by windows based media center apps like mediaportal, WindowsMCE itself or even Nero Home.

    Fuck sake, Art.

The pre-edit was far superior, like.

You're cool. Admit it to yourself while thinking about yourself while having a wank about yourself.

    You deserve it.
