you can alternatively go to compmgt.msc and remove a drive letter to the desired drive.
And once you want it to show up go there again and assign it again.
Hide it .How can i use it again without modifying registry.
I think it just hides the drive
True Crypt for the win. Just remember to always back up your volume-headers in case of problemos.

Thanks for the advice Disme, TrueCrypt is the better solution for hiding sensitive info imo.
