I had this long discusiion with my friend on this topic......
And hence I am posting a thread to discuss this very intresting topic

Please be unbiased while responding to this, think like techie

Post your decision based upon :-

a) Quality of contents released

b) How fast is the scene(new contents) released

c) Variation of contents and availabilty of whatever you need and how easily its accesible

d) Amount of contents you can download (say in 1 month as a standard)


So Which is the Better Download Option


i) Downloading via Rapidshare Server with Rapidshare Premium Account

Now some tech facts....


a) 33% of total Internet bandwidth is acquired by torrents only....

b) I serached on Alexa (Alexa the Web Information Company) for the ranking of various sites related to this context and found following:-

Rapidshare.com - 17th Ranking

Warezbb.org - 400th Ranking

The Pirate Bay - 112th Ranking

Mininova - 100th Ranking

Bwtorrents - 5471th Ranking

Now, I can ver well understand such good ranking of Rapidshare is bcoz of the simple reason that all the download that is taking place goes through RS Server so such high traffic....
But trackers having such great ranking was really amazing when there is no actual download taking place from there server.......

BwTorrent being Private Tracker with selecetd no of users, the Ranking is quite understandable and is quite good actually seeing the no of users that are actually allowed to access it...


Though nobody can deny great speed what you get on RS Server
But if you are downloading the already acquired stuff(via torrent) from your seedbox using the FTP protocol......The download speed will be equivalentally bettter
Morever you can put on download various stuffs even when you are not online...... And when you feel like getting your stuff you can easily acquire it....


So, people what is your opinion in this context, waiting to hear from you....

I don't understand why the seedbox is needed for the question. But I have a good connection.

I would choose torrents because I want to download an HD movie when I feel like it without limits from RS.

you would need a top torrent tracker, ftn or the likes and a box would cost you say 40euro for an ok one.

for cost, rapid/ng with home connection would be fine, you could get both for roughly half the cost and still get releases as quick.

unless you doing alot of uploading then a box aint needed, just get a good ng account, it does all you need ;-)

lol @ the word "elite" ... & lol at postin' all those trackers url's...

a) Torrents & RS (depending where)

b) Def. Torrents for big files/Def. RS for the MP3's

c) RS for Music & Mvids/ But for the rest big files: Torrents

d) Torrents...

So at the End my opinion, you can't just choose one of them...
it will depend on what are your needs...
So for me based on those 4 points it goes 50/50...

But what is I share the box with few close friends......
That will bring down the price........... And I can download hell more amount of stuff....Of high quality!!!!!
