All of them do, but one will say Watchmen DVDSCr = 1.4gb and the other 25 will say 1.4kb or 50kb or 20mb or xxx....you get teh picture.

The really tricky part is when trying to find small software applications on Binsearch. There might be a few legitimate releases buried with hundreds of virus-laden trojans of the same name. Although most of the file spews are obvious fakes, a few trojans are pretty good forgeries, complete with (stolen) NFO and file ID's -- but packing an infected keygen or crack.

I long ago gave up downloading most softare apps from raw usenet. Unless the release came from a trusted source, it's just too risky due to all the virus pollution and its often hardly worth the trouble weeding through it all.

Like I said, check a predb....and check the file sizes and add about 1-100mb depending on PAR size. Most scene releases are very easy to spot in binsearch, but I have no reason either to download soft from Usenet when I have VDOWN There's always Warez BB too.

It used to be 75 but we lost all the older stuff when I converted to the new system.
It would take a while to convert the older files and not really worthwhile. Anything that people want can be found on binsearch.
Doesn't that kind of defeat the idea of this site though?...well, the newsgroups part of it anyway.

Why are you complaining about something that happened 2 months ago?
The content that was deleted would (by now) be deleted because of our level of retention anyway...

I see where's he's coming from Tesco, more than likely some people don't know about search engines, so they will just move on to another site for their NZB's. Almost all sites now-a-days have close to 400 day retention, I'm not saying we should, but like ya said wink wink Also, on binsearch or any other search engine, most scene groups tag them sol-fstrock (eg movie name would be FST Rocks 2009 VHSRip WMV-SOL), but if you searched eg, the fancy title, nothing would come up, but some would, it's hit and miss, it all depnds on would uploads it.

I'm not complaining, I've never been active in this section so had a nose around last night. This site is great, I come on here several times virtually every day. I was just saying that if after 40 days or whatever it is using Binsearch or Newzleech kind of defeats the idea.

I do miss the odd thing here and there so have no choice but to look elsewhere for a relatively new release because the NZB in no longer active, after all, 40 days is a very, very short retention time in the NG world.

Keep up the great work. No complaints here, just saying my bit.

For some it maybe, but not for me.

I'm on the board almost daily as it is, so it's an easy stop to grab up my daily TV shows and whatnot. 90% of what I download is 0-day content, and the posters here do a fine job of keeping that content up to date. Plus, uploads here get a bit of feedback and you can always read comments on games, leaked movies, etc to see if cracks work, movie quality, etc... If I need something a bit older, I can always look to search engines.

There's probably (uh, quite definitely) more than one train of thought on this.

These days, the cost of maintaining tons of nzb's (as an example) is, or should be, extremely low cost, but it is something (i.e., not 'free').

But the big reason for the listing on a site like this is user feedback; is the post 'good', does the nfo accurately reflect what it actually is, and I wasting my time/bits, etc. Yep, the nzb can be easily gotten on the myriad of nzb sites (Binsearch, which is small/lite/easy to use has been mentioned, and I use it all the time), and I actually use it when the 'big' sites like newzbin 'screw the pooch' on their listing.

Perhaps even if the nzb has been 'deleted' as part of routine cleaning, if one has the basic file listing, it can be got on any of the 'larger' sites. But again, it comes back to user feedback. That's where the 'community' really helps out.
