Thread: File Recovery After Deletion

  1. #1
Hey, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on recovering deleted files, like websites with guides, or your own personal experiences. I saw in another topic 3 programs being mentioned recover4all , encase and norton. Are these the main ones, are there better or more popular ones and which is the best / easiest to use.
    thx

I have recently started to use Go Back 3 Deluxe - formerly by Roxio but I belive Norton owns it now. Thankfully, I've only had to use it 2 times for a complete system restore and a couple times for single file recovery and it worked like a charm.
Takes up a bunch of disk space though, up to 10% of your HD. And also you will notice a lot more disk activity with it installed and running because of the regular saving it does.
Very good software to have I'd say.

edit: Also, it boots before Windows does. So in case you can't get in to the OS because of a system crash or something you can still access Go Back for a restore.

I used a program called getdataback, after I had deleted my whole hd.
I managed to recover all my mp3's, movies and other files quite easily.

I think it's a good idea to have programs like these on disk just incase the worst happens.

Fosi - easy recovery pro. You can configure which partitions or file types and choose files to restore from a list of possibilities found.
