Thread: Upgrading to win 7 from vista

  1. #1
I've heard that when upgrading from vista to windows 7 for a clean install that I need to have vista completely installed to verify that I own it and launch the setup from there. This sounds like a huge load of crap. So if I ever want to reformat I have to install vista first?

    This really encourages piracy.

I think all you have to do is insert the Vista disk when prompted and point to a cab file . I remember something like that from Win98 but I never would do anything but a " clean install " so not sure .

Sorry I meant I'd never use an upgrade disk as your so limited , like trying to run system recovery .
