Can someone please tell me the difference between the two types of processers?

I am looking to buy a new laptop and wondered which was better.
    Thanks.

the differnce between the two is the amount of L2 cache

the think celeron is 128, and pentium 512

other than that they are exactly the same besides the price.

Think of it like this... a Celeron is like a factory second of a Pentium Pro CPU.
Intel make a bunch of CPUs.. those that don't measure up to quality control, (but still work okay.. just a bit slower than they should) get called Celerons.

...thats what I was told when I asked an IT buddy anyways..

you make it sound like a celeron is a factory reject... they are made to be what they are.

they are just slightly slower, and a lot cheaper. if we were talking about a desktop with a good graphics card it could be just as good or better than a regular pentium pc.

celeron is just a bargain priced p4, you get what you pay for though

Good choice, Celeron's are by far outdated, they only have 256KB Level 1 () cache and they can't match the performance of Pentium 4s/Xeons. And their FSB frequency isn't that high at all ...
