    Ok simple question, wheneve i open a .nfo file that comes with a program it tells me invalid something or other and then gives me info on the comp as a whole. So whats it for then????

    Nfo files give you information abou the soft/game you are about to install

    Open it with note pad.

    Thanks for the quick answers guys, sometimes its the simple stuff thats hardest. But of course we can all notice the smugness of Dapadipz answer so we can tell that theres at least one smart alec on the board today, but at least he replied.

    Another fine freeware .nfo viewer:

    DAMN NFO Viewer

    It's a beauty when you view .nfo files with a black background and white text.
