I just got this idea about the mp3s, if u rename them to a different extension for example a .zip file, so u might have: Nelly-hott in here.zip but if u just try cliking on it, it won't work but if hold shift the open with then use the media player u have then it will play. U might say why not rename them, because that can just take up to much space having the same file on your comp twice. I think this can be a way to fight back against the RIAA because they can't say u are sharing copyrighted "music" because it's not music unless u rename it. What do the rest of u think, my brain was just rambling and I came apon this, so let me know what u think.

But there is no such copyrighted file as Nelly-hot in herre.zip because it's no such file. It's not software and it's not a .mp3

It is not mp3 that's forbidden! you can dl legal mp3's.

it's the content that counts.. So if the content is © it is illegal.. In what form that content may be!

But it has no content, if u double-clik there is nothing there. (This is basically the argument I would use against the RIAA)

i'm sure a certain member told me irc was legal because they are sharing *.rar and *.zip which are pc files rather than music files.

Yeah, mp3's are illegal that's why I'm saying if u share the .mp3 under a different extension it's not a song unless it's renamed so noone will know if it is renamed if it's on your comp, but u are sharing the different extension so someone else can do the same thing, but the only problem with renaming is it's the same file as the other one (that's why I say just play that file through your media player by holding shift>open with) because if u download the changed extension then just rename the file to .mp3 and share that then u are in violation of the copyright, but not with a .zip,.jpg,.exe or whatever u rename it too.
