Mac bootcamp help/windows xp installation

So long story short, I attempted to install windows xp on my new macbook pro and ended up with a white screen. I reinstalled the mac osx operating system and all is fine. The problem due to the fact that I used a windows xp disc with sp1. So now I have a disc with Sp3 and I will try that. I am wondering if there are any issues with sp3, that anyone knows of? The only thing I know of is a hard drive issue, if you upgrade from sp2 to sp3.

I have installed SP2 and SP3 in bootcamp, as well as Vista, without any problems.

Sp3 worked fine, but now I am curious about adding solaris 10 into the mix. How is the performance with a ubuntu through vmware fusion? given that I have already dual booted the mac osx with windows.
