Movie Sound

After downloading some films lately some seem to have very quiet sound (not all)!
And I have to turn it up to max. which is not a major problem until my computer wants to let me know something (i.e. messenger etc.) and it blasts my ears off !!
I was wondering if theres any other way to boost sound in movies especially .AVI files, for a permanent sound boost to the file?

I use Goldwave. (this may be of use because i convert the max volume file to wav to use in Tmpgenc)
Just drag the avi into it and when loaded max the volume or try it and see what best. Star Trek Nemisis was so quiet i used Goldwave and Bob ya uncle. If you dont want to convert i sure there is a way to add the sound back to your avi.

It only takes about 3to5 mins to use Goldwave (proceessor goverened).

I will find a way of adding max sound with shortest time.

Is the prog. just called Goldwave?

Yes it is just Goldwave.

I can add the max volume file back to AVI but it is in Wav form and AVI went from 700 to 1,200.

so it sprobably of no use.

I just found out how to boost sound!!
If you download and install the newest version of k-lite codec file (2.05) you can choose to install an extra called TFM audio filter!
In this you can boost sound and use an equiliser!
Which works GREAT!!! B)

Well, you can also use Virtualdub to boost the sound of your movies. This doesn't take long either, about 5 minutes...

Sorry for being a Thicko but could you quickly explain to me how virtual dub boosts the sound of movies?
Doe's it do it while you watch or does it boost there sound permanently?
