Thread: How can I test my shared seedbox speed without the root password?

  1. #1
I am new to the file sharing thing, and recently rent a slot in a shared seedbox. The only privileges I have are managing my torrents (can't make torrents though) at the WebUI interface and accessing my FTP account. Is it possible for me to test my connection speed in this situation? Thanks.

Grab a well seeded torrent and thus you test the down speed.
Grab a new torrent with good chance of becoming a popular one for testing the upload.

Either way it won't be a reliable test of what speeds you can get as it will depend on how heavily the other users on your seedbox are using it.

But he is interested in what speeds he gets, not what speeds he can get. I don't think that a maximum speed of 70 MB/s will make him happy if he gets only 1MB/s in general.
