Thread: Binsearch tech help

  1. #1
I like the usenet search engine Binsearch. But I had an issue the other day where a file name was posted onto usenet in a coded manner. I knew by using google the file was released 24th August 09 and google indicated it was posted to usenet at a certain time. Now binsearch searching did not come up with results so I had to manually go back in the newsgroup browse function to the date. In my case I found the file, going back to 24th August was no big deal, but what if the file had been posted 8-10 months ago. Is there a way of browsing a newsgroup with Binsearch or any other search engine restricting dates?

    NZBIndex? Search past 30, 60, 100, 150, 200, 300, 350 days.

NZBIndex indexes more groups than BinSearch does - and you can request more to be indexed.

So search a certain date in a group, go to "Groups" and search adding all the required details of the date.

Thanks for reply but it does not answer my question. Ok say I want to search any post in a.b.dvd posted on 01/07/09. I am not interested in any dates before or after. I think a date search would be a useful addition to a binary search engine. I do not think such a thing exists?

You know what would be a whole easier? You said it was posted in a coded manner? It's not coded, this is how the "scene archives" releases are named, just do a simple search on Google for the file name...eg...say you were looking for Desperate.Housewives.S05D4.NTSC.DVDR-ToF but couldn't find it, because the poster didn't post it like that, more than likely they used the scene name which is: dh.s5d4.tof

A rule of thumb is if I'm looking for a scene release and don't know the file name I alwasy do this, say I want The.Final.Destination-DEViSE, I serach devise-
    and normally alwasy works.
