Windows 7 for $29.99
In an odd coincidence, and one that certainly has nothing to do with the brisk sales of Snow Leopard at its low price, Microsoft has announced low student pricing for Windows 7: $29.99, a mere ninety-nine cents more than Apple's operating system upgrade, and seventy bucks less than the Windows 7 retail price.

EDIT: I just went to order one of these and discovered two things:
1) These are "Upgrade" versions only and are downloads. There is no disc.
2) The Microsoft website FAQ states:
But when one goes through the steps to actually purchase the OS, the only option is "Windows 7 Home".Eligible students are allowed to purchase one copy of either Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional from the online store.
