    I have FIOS about 5+ miles from where I live, thought about it a couple of times, but I'd have to give up my ocean view and Verizon has the plant here on the auction block (selling out to Frontier), so only GOD and the PUC knows what's going to happen.

    Like 'Sonsofliberty' I'm at the far end of a DSL line, but luckily just shy of some 15,000ft (3 miles) from the CO, so get a rock solid 3Mb/s (3/768). Which runs 24/7. Local 'cable' (Comcast) advertises various rates, with all the aforementioned caps and whatall. So however 'fast' it is doesn't compare to my usage.
